This documentary follows three Navy SEALs who return from deployments in Afghanistan and Iraq struggling with severe psychological trauma. Because traditional treatments fail to provide relief, the veterans turn to an experimental psychedelic therapy to find healing and support for their community.
The film was co-directed by Bonni Cohen and Jon Shenk, who previously collaborated on Athlete A in 2020. This project is the second of two films released by the directors in 2024, preceding The White House Effect. Jon Shenk's earlier work includes the 2001 documentary The Beginning: The Making of Star Wars Episode I. Produced by Participant, Studio AKA, Chicago Media Project, and Actual Films, the production involved a credited crew of 75 people.
The cast features Marcus Capone, Amber Capone, DJ Shipley, Matty Roberts, and Patsy Dietz-Shipley appearing as themselves. This joint production between the United Kingdom and the United States has a total runtime of 108 minutes.
