A Chinese Odyssey Part One: Pandora's Box

After committing various faults, the Monkey King is punished by a goddess and reincarnated as a mortal named Joker, the leader of a bandit group. Unaware of his true identity, he encounters demon women who seek the flesh of a monk to gain immortality. One of these women, Jing Jing, develops feelings for Joker, believing him to be her former enemy. The narrative involves a cycle of rebirth and a journey to the west, eventually leading Joker to travel through time in an effort to save a dying woman.

Directed and written by Jeff Lau Chun-Wai, this 1995 Hong Kong and Chinese production is one of several films in the director's career, appearing in chronological order after All for the Winner and The Eagle Shooting Heroes.
