Treasure Hunting

During China's Republican era, the descendants of an ancient guard once tasked with protecting imperial riches set out for the country's northeast. Their aim there is to keep a cache of Jurchen treasure out of the hands of Japanese looters, and along the way they hope to learn the truth about why their forebears were hunted down. The action adventure blends mystery with the group's journey into dangerous territory.

The film is directed by Qin Pengfei, who works at a steady pace: it arrived in 2024, the same year as his Curbing Violence, Blade of Fury and Black Storm, and after Fight Against Evil and its 2023 sequel. It was followed by Once Upon a Time in China that same year, then The Bodyguard and The Finder in 2025, and Wings of Dread in 2026. Chi Shuai plays Lu Huanshan, with Elaine Yi as Gu Xiang, Liu Fengchao as Wu Ye, Cheng Qimeng as Wu Siwen and Shi Xuanru as Suo Yuer.

Made in China, the film runs 87 minutes and was released on August 27, 2024. It is listed in the action, adventure and mystery genres.
