Aiming High is a documentary that examines the attempt to launch a premiere alpine skiing downhill event at the base of the Matterhorn. Despite the presence of fans, sponsors, and athletes, poor weather conditions forced the event to be cancelled. This failure serves as a starting point for a broader exploration of the connections between the tourism industry, professional sports, and the effects of climate change.
The film was co-directed and written by Flavio Gerber and Alun Meyerhans and produced by Susanne Bucher through Filmgerberei GmbH. This production was a collaboration between Switzerland, Austria, and Italy. The documentary features several athletes appearing as themselves, including Marco Odermatt, Lara Gut-Behrami, Corinne Sutter, Jasmine Flury, Mauro Caviezel, and Aleksander Aamodt Kilde. Released on October 4, 2024, the film has a runtime of 94 minutes.
