This documentary explores a 1972 production of the musical Godspell in Toronto, which focused on the life of Jesus. The film examines how this specific performance served as a launching point for several entertainers and influenced the evolution of comedy. It features interviews with surviving cast members and other figures, including Mike Myers and Lin-Manuel Miranda, to detail the impact of the show.
The project was directed by Nick Davis, who also wrote the screenplay alongside Jane Mendelsohn. This is the second film directed by Davis, following his 2025 work This Ordinary Thing. The documentary was produced in Canada by XRM Media, Greenwich Entertainment, and Open Door Co., with Judd Apatow serving as executive producer. The cast includes Martin Short, Eugene Levy, Victor Garber, Andrea Martin, Jayne Eastwood, and Valda Aviks, appearing as themselves and in roles from the original production. A total of 25 cast members are credited in the 98-minute film.
