Hen

A hen escapes from an industrial farm and finds shelter in the courtyard of a decaying restaurant on the Greek coast. As she navigates the social hierarchy of the yard and experiences love, she must fight to keep her eggs safe from a greedy owner. Through the eyes of the bird and other animals, the story observes human violence, tragedy, and illegal activities, using the hen's struggle for motherhood as a reflection of human conflict and compromise.

Directed by György Pálfi, this adventure drama is his fifth feature film, following Perpetuity. The screenplay was written by Pálfi and Zsófia Ruttkay. The cast features Yannis Kokiasmenos as the restaurant owner, Maria Diakopanagiotou as the girl, Argyris Pandazaras as the boy, and Antonis Kafetzopoulos as a smuggler boss. The production was a collaboration between companies from Germany, Hungary, and Greece.
