Lions of the Skeleton Coast

Lions of the Skeleton Coast is a documentary that follows three young lionesses struggling to survive in the Namibian desert after becoming orphaned. The film centers on the efforts of researcher Philip Stander, who tracks the cubs across the inhospitable terrain of the Skeleton Coast. Through Stander's observations, the film explores how these desert lions adapt to a harsh environment and examines the interactions between predators of the land and sea.

The production was a collaboration between Germany, Austria, and Zambia, involving production companies such as WDR, ARTE, ORF, and Into Nature Productions. It was directed by Lianne Steenkamp and Will Steenkamp and features Noma Dumezweni as the narrator. Released on April 20, 2025, the film has a runtime of 54 minutes.
