Renoir

Set in Tokyo in 1987, this drama follows an eleven-year-old girl named Fuki who navigates a difficult family situation. While her father suffers from a terminal illness and her mother is overwhelmed by work and caregiving, Fuki deals with her loneliness by retreating into an imaginary world and exploring an interest in telepathy. Throughout the summer, the sensitive girl interacts with various adults who are facing their own personal hardships.

The film was written and directed by Chie Hayakawa, following her 2022 project Plan 75. The production was a collaboration between companies from Japan, France, Singapore, Indonesia, and the Philippines. The cast features Yui Suzuki in the lead role as Fuki Okita, supported by Hikari Ishida, Lily Franky, Ayumu Nakajima, Yumi Kawai, and Ryota Bando.
