Captain America

Captain America is a 1990 action and science fiction film based on the Marvel Comics character. During the Second World War, a young American named Steve Rogers volunteers for a military experiment that turns him into a super-soldier. He is sent to Europe to stop a fascist super-soldier known as the Red Skull and the deadly rockets in his charge. The two become lasting enemies, and their conflict continues into the 1990s, when the Red Skull, now operating through a secret organization, plots to kidnap the President of the United States.

Albert Pyun directed the film, which came after his 1989 release Cyborg in the chronological list of his features. The screenplay is by Stephen Tolkin and Lawrence J. Block, and Menahem Golan produced. Matt Salinger stars as Steve Rogers, alongside Ronny Cox, Ned Beatty, Darren McGavin, Michael Nouri and Scott Paulin as the Red Skull. The film was a modest production with a budget of around three million dollars and a large credited cast and crew.

Audience response was poor. On IMDb the film holds a rating of 3.3 out of 10 from roughly sixteen thousand votes, and on TMDB it has a rating of 4.5 out of 10 from about four hundred and seventy votes. Both figures indicate a largely unfavorable reception among viewers.
