Architecture of Happiness

Architecture of Happiness is a documentary centered on Campione d'Italia, an Italian enclave located in Switzerland. For a century, this former fishing village relied on a massive casino to generate significant wealth, creating a deep economic and social dependence for its residents. When the establishment went bankrupt, the community faced an existential crisis and a loss of autonomy. The film examines whether the reopening of the building can provide the village with a new opportunity for survival.

The production is a joint effort between Germany and Switzerland, produced by companies including SRG SSR, SRF, RSI, and Mira Film. It was directed and written by Michele Cirigliano and Anton von Bredow, with Thomas Tielsch and Hercli Bundi serving as producers. Released on September 11, 2025, the film has a total runtime of 77 minutes.
