Ancestral Visions of the Future

Ancestral Visions of the Future is a documentary that examines the identity and childhood of its creator. The narrative weaves together the experiences of a young boy, a puppeteer, and a market woman to explore the director's early life in Lesotho and his later period of exile in Germany. The film functions as a personal journey that blends memory and myth to reflect on themes of death, homeland, and the history of the director's native country.

The film was written and directed by Lemohang Jeremiah Mosese, who also served as a producer alongside Marie Balducchi. It follows his previous work, This Is Not a Burial, It’s a Resurrection. The production was a collaboration between companies from Germany, Qatar, Lesotho, Saudi Arabia, and France. The cast features Rehauhetsoe Kotsoane as a child, Siphiwe Nzima as Manthabiseng, Mochesane Kotsoane as an old man, and Sobo Bernard as a puppeteer and herbalist. Released on February 20, 2025, the movie has a runtime of 83 minutes.
