Flynn Carsen, a librarian who also safeguards powerful artifacts, receives an ancient document that appears to be a map to the legendary mines of King Solomon, where the biblical king is said to have hidden his greatest treasures. When the document is stolen, Flynn sets out to recover it and finds himself in Morocco, where he joins forces with archaeologist Emily Davenport. They are pursued by General Samir and his mercenaries, who want the map for themselves. The search leads the pair deeper into Africa and toward the secret of the mines.
Noah Wyle stars as Flynn, with Gabrielle Anwar as Emily Davenport. Bob Newhart and Jane Curtin return as Judson and Charlene, while Olympia Dukakis appears as Flynn's mother, Margie, and Erick Avari plays General Samir. Jonathan Frakes directed the film, which followed his earlier features Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection, Clockstoppers and Thunderbirds, and preceded The Librarian: The Curse of the Judas Chalice. It is the second film in the series and runs 92 minutes.
On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 6.2 from roughly 17,000 votes, while on TMDB it has a 6.3 from around 649 votes. These figures point to a modest but enduring audience for the adventure, consistent with a television production that continues to draw viewers years after its release.
