Revenge

Michael J. Cochran, a U.S. Navy pilot, leaves the service after twelve years and looks for rest rather than a new career. He accepts an invitation to Mexico from Tiburon Mendez, a wealthy and influential businessman whose life Cochran once saved, and settles into the hospitality of Mendez's estate. There he meets Miryea, Mendez's much younger wife, and the two begin an affair despite the danger posed by her husband, a man with criminal connections and a ruthless streak. When Mendez discovers them, he takes a brutal revenge on both, and Cochran, barely surviving, sets out to find Miryea again.

Tony Scott directed the film, the fourth of the sixteen features listed for him, arriving between Beverly Hills Cop II and Days of Thunder. Kevin Costner plays Cochran, with Anthony Quinn as Mendez, Madeleine Stowe as Miryea, and supporting turns from Miguel Ferrer, Tomas Milian and Joaquín Martínez. Jim Harrison and Jeffrey Alan Fiskin wrote the screenplay, and Hunt Lowry and Stanley Rubin produced.

Released in February 1990, the film had a budget of about 22 million dollars and took roughly 16 million worldwide, falling short of its cost. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 23,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.5 out of 10 from about 500 votes, while a critics' rating of 4.2 out of 10 from 20 reviews places it well below the audience scores.
