Phantoms of July is a German comedy and drama about two lonely women living precarious lives. Ursula, a waitress from East Germany, and Neda, an Iranian YouTuber, both seek an escape from their isolation. Their paths cross after a series of coincidences involving a mysterious musician and a street sweeper whom Neda believes is a former friend from Tehran. The two women eventually form an unlikely bond while embarking on a ghost hunt in the mountains.
The film was written and directed by Julian Radlmaier. It features a cast led by Clara Schwinning as Ursula and Maral Keshavarz as Neda, with supporting roles played by Henriette Confurius, Paula Schindler, Kyung-Taek Lie, and Ghazal Shojaei.
