Short description

This documentary explores the high-stakes world of antique art through the discovery of a painting in a Madrid home. Originally viewed as a simple piece of decor and auctioned for 1,500 euros, the work titled Ecce Homo was later identified by experts as a lost piece by the Italian Baroque painter Caravaggio. The film tracks the resulting competition among art dealers and collectors to acquire the piece, which eventually led to a temporary exhibition at the Prado museum.

Directed by Álvaro Longoria, who also served as a producer alongside Ricardo Fernández-Deu and Gerardo Olivares, the film was written by Ana Barcos and Marisa Lafuente. A joint production between Spain and Italy, the project involved a credited crew of 60 people and was produced by companies including Morena Films, Fandango, Mediacrest, and Estrategia Audivisual. The film has a runtime of 76 minutes and was released on March 10, 2025. Based on a small number of user ratings, the movie holds a score of 7.6/10 on TMDB.
