PCU

PCU is a 1994 comedy set at Port Chester University, a college where political correctness dominates campus life. High school senior Tom Lawrence arrives for a weekend visit and falls in with the residents of a run-down house known as The Pit, led by the hard-partying Droz. Tom also runs afoul of preppy rival Rand McPherson and the university's uncompromising president. With the house facing removal from campus, Droz and his friends plan a large party meant to bring the school's feuding factions together.

Hart Bochner directed the film in his feature debut, working from a screenplay by Adam Leff and Zak Penn. Jeremy Piven plays Droz, with Chris Young as Tom, David Spade as Rand, Megan Ward as Katy, Sarah Trigger as Samantha and Jon Favreau as Gutter. Production involved 20th Century Fox, Taurus Film and Paul Schiff Productions, with Schiff producing, and the film runs 81 minutes.

The film was released on April 29, 1994. Against an $8 million budget, it returned $4 million worldwide at the box office, a shortfall that indicates it found little traction with audiences during its theatrical run. On IMDb, it holds 6.6/10 from around 15,000 votes; on TMDB, it has 6.1/10 from about 140 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7/10 from 18 reviews places it in similar territory, so the response from reviewers and audiences alike is modest rather than enthusiastic, with the larger IMDb sample suggesting a small but lasting following.
