This Spanish documentary examines the role of private military companies and mercenaries in modern warfare. The film follows Espinosa, a former member of the French Foreign Legion and elite Spanish military units, as he fights against the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Through a first-person account, the narrative portrays the business of conflict and the trauma of combat. The story extends beyond the battlefield, focusing on the challenges Espinosa faces while attempting to reintegrate into his former life at home.
Directed by Juanma Arizmendi, the project was produced by Movistar+ and The Mediapro Studio. The screenplay was written by Arizmendi alongside Anna Surinyach and Ignacio Acconcia. The film features Joan Estévez appearing as himself. Released on April 3, 2025, the documentary provides a perspective on the psychological toll of war and the realities of working as a foreign soldier in 21st-century conflicts.
