A Poet

A Poet follows Oscar Restrepo, a disillusioned writer in Medellin who has struggled to find success or recognition in the literary world. Living with his family and feeling defeated by the artistic stereotypes of his country, he finds a new sense of purpose when he meets Yurlady, a gifted teenager from a humble background. Oscar becomes her mentor and encourages her to enter a national poetry competition. However, he faces an internal conflict over whether introducing her to a professional scene that caused him so much frustration is truly in her best interest.

The film was directed and written by Simón Mesa Soto, who also served as a producer alongside Juan Sarmiento G and Manuel Ruiz Montealegre. It is a comedy-drama co-produced by companies from Colombia, Germany, and Sweden. The cast features Ubeimar Rios as Oscar and Rebeca Andrade as Yurlady, supported by Guillermo Cardona, Alisson Correa, Humberto Restrepo, and Margarita Soto.
