Dear Stranger

Set in New York City, this drama follows a Japanese man and his Chinese-American wife as they navigate the pressures of their careers, parenting, and caregiving. Their relationship is pushed to a breaking point after the kidnapping of their son leads to a murder. As buried secrets and hidden truths emerge, the couple struggles to reconcile their differences and salvage their concept of a happy family.

Tetsuya Mariko wrote and directed the film, which follows his 2009 project A Lush Life. The production was a collaboration between companies from the United States, Taiwan, and Japan, including Toei Company and Rollin Studios. The cast features Hidetoshi Nishijima as Kenji Saiga and Gwei Lun-mei as Jane Yang, supported by a credited cast of 27 actors, including Julian Wang and Christopher Mann.
