Afro Samurai: Resurrection

Afro Samurai has settled into a quiet life after avenging his father, but his past will not leave him alone. A woman named Sio, dangerous and striking, returns from that past with a companion, Kuma, and seizes both the Number One headband and the remains of Afro's dead father. Her aim is revenge: she intends to raise the father and make him suffer. To stop her, Afro must set out after the Number Two headband once more, since only that band can overcome the Number One, and face Sio under the code he lives by. His companion Ninja Ninja travels with him along the way.

The 2009 animated film was directed by Fuminori Kizaki, the first of three features he has directed, ahead of Bayonetta: Bloody Fate and Human Lost. It continues the Afro Samurai story, with a screenplay by Eric S. Calderon, Leo Chu and Joshua Hale Fialkov. Samuel L. Jackson voices both Afro and Ninja Ninja; Lucy Liu voices Sio; Yuri Lowenthal, Mark Hamill, Jeff Bennett and S. Scott Bullock round out the cast.

It runs 101 minutes and was made in the United States and Japan by Fuji Television Network, GONZO and Spike TV. On TMDB it holds a 6.9 rating from 233 votes.
