Syirik: Danyang Laut Selatan

Said returns to the village of Wonosari after six years of study to find the community consumed by mystical beliefs. He reunites with his childhood love, Sari, but their bond is challenged by Sari's mother, Santika, who wants her daughter to serve as the primary dancer in a local ritual. As Sari is drawn into a web of schemes involving the village chief and a woman named Ningsih, the latter employs black magic to steal the lead role. Meanwhile, the ritual leader, Ki Dalang, searches for the rightful dancer, leading to a clash with dark forces.

This Indonesian drama and horror film was directed by Hestu Saputra, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Astryd Diana Savitri. It is the first of two listed films directed by Saputra, preceding his 2026 work Aku Harus Mati. The production was handled by Ganesa Perkasa Films and produced by Chandir Bhagwandas. The ensemble cast features Richelle Skornicki as Sari, Teuku Rassya as Said, Donny Alamsyah as Ki Dalang, and Kinaryosih as Santika, with Totos Rasiti and Stani Arifasti appearing as Pak Lurah and Bu Lurah. Released on June 19, 2025, the movie has a total runtime of 102 minutes.
