Run Ronnie Run follows Ronnie Dobbs, a hard-drinking troublemaker from a small Georgia town who has a remarkable talent for getting himself arrested. A television producer spots Ronnie during one of his run-ins with the law and becomes convinced that his unruly behaviour could be turned into a hit show. Ronnie is brought to Hollywood, where his programme becomes a ratings success and turns him into a national television personality. As his fame grows, his new life pulls him away from the people and habits he left behind, most notably the wife still living back home.
The film is a spin-off of the sketch series Mr. Show, with David Cross playing Ronnie and co-writer Bob Odenkirk appearing as the producer Terry Twillstein. It was directed by Troy Miller, whose earlier theatrical feature was Jack Frost and who went on to make Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd. Bruce Taylor, Leon Lamar and India Cosper are among the credited cast, which numbers 77 performers, including a large number of cameo appearances.
Released in 2002 and running 84 minutes, the comedy holds a rating of 6.2/10 on IMDb from around 6,400 votes and 5.9/10 on TMDB from a much smaller sample. A critics' rating of 7.1/10 based on seven reviews places it above both audience scores.
