Welcome to Dongmakgol

Set during the Korean War in 1950, this story follows an American pilot and soldiers from both North and South Korea who converge in the secluded village of Dongmakgol. The residents of this isolated community are entirely unaware of the conflict happening in the outside world. After an initial clash, the opposing soldiers are forced to work together to repair the damage they caused to the peaceful village.

The film was directed by Bae Jong and Kwang-Hyun Park. For Bae Jong, this was the first of two directed films, followed by Fabricated City in 2017. The screenplay was written by Jang Jin, Bae Jong, and Kim Joong, with the project based on a play by Jang Jin. The cast features Jung Jae-young, Shin Ha-kyun, Kang Hye-jung, and Steve Taschler.

Produced by Showbox and Film It Suda with a budget of 8 million USD, the movie earned 36 million USD at the worldwide box office. It is well-received by viewers, holding a 7.6 rating on IMDb from 7,900 votes and a 7.4 rating on TMDB from 204 votes. These audience scores are higher than the 6.2 rating provided by film critics.
