Clockstoppers

Clockstoppers is a science fiction adventure about Zak Gibbs, a teenager whose main concern is saving up for a car. While digging through his inventor father's belongings, he comes across an unusual wristwatch and puts it on. The device speeds up his molecules so that the world around him appears frozen, letting him move through a dimension the film calls "hypertime," unseen by ordinary people. Zak shares the discovery with Francesca, a girl he is interested in, and the two use it for amusement. Their fun ends when they learn that others know about the watch and want it, including a ruthless industrialist, Henry Gates, who has his own plans for the technology and who abducts Zak's father, a physicist, to force him to complete it. With Francesca and the scientist Dopler, Zak sets out to rescue his father.

Jonathan Frakes directed the film, the third of the six features he directed, following Star Trek: First Contact and Star Trek: Insurrection. The screenplay is credited to J. David Stem, David N. Weiss and Rob Hedden, with Gale Anne Hurd and Julia Pistor producing for Paramount, Valhalla Motion Pictures and Nickelodeon Movies. Jesse Bradford plays Zak, Paula Garcés plays Francesca, French Stewart plays Dr. Earl Dopler, Michael Biehn plays Henry Gates and Robin Thomas and Julia Sweeney appear as Zak's parents.

Made for a budget of 26 million dollars, the film took in about 39 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 5.2 out of 10 from nearly 15,000 votes, on TMDB 5.3 from a few hundred, and critics gave it 4.8 from 86 reviews, so audiences and critics were closely aligned in their moderate response.
