National Theatre Live: The Fifth Step

James is an experienced member of a twelve-step recovery program who takes on the role of sponsor for a newcomer named Luka. The two men develop a tentative friendship by sharing their personal histories and experiences. This bond is tested as Luka nears the fifth step of the process, which requires a full confession. The emergence of unsettling truths threatens the mutual trust necessary for both men to maintain their sobriety.

This British comedy-drama was directed by Finn den Hertog and written by David Ireland. The film stars Martin Freeman as James and Jack Lowden as Luka.
