Mare's Nest

Mare's Nest follows a young girl named Moon as she explores a mysterious world where no adults exist. In this setting, which some describe as post-apocalyptic, Moon encounters various children who possess profound wisdom and occupy roles such as prophets, angels, and demons. While visiting a mountain hut, she meets an interpreter and a scholar turned sage to try and make sense of her surroundings. Throughout her journey, other inhabitants perform for her, offer gifts, and present different ways of living before she continues toward an uncertain future.

The film was written and directed by Ben Rivers, who also released One Brilliant Day in 2026. This production was a collaboration between companies from the United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, and France. The cast is led by Moon Guo Barker in the title role, appearing alongside Astrid Ihora, Elahni-ja'nai Nembhard, and sisters Iris and Saioia Andueza Reig, as well as Sofia Hurtado Lichel. The movie blends elements of fantasy, science fiction, and drama into a 98-minute runtime.
