The Merchants of Joy is a documentary that follows five families in a bustling city as they work to establish seasonal holiday stalls on the sidewalks. The film focuses on the efforts of these vendors to maintain their family traditions and protect their businesses from risk while sourcing and selling Christmas trees. Through these portraits, the film explores themes of tenacity and pride as the families bring festive cheer to their customers each winter.
Directed and produced by Celia Aniskovich, the film was a joint production between Artists Equity, Epic, Dial Tone Films, and Boat Rocker Studios in the United States. The production team also included producers Zoe Vock and Arthur Spector. Released on November 14, 2025, the documentary has a runtime of 89 minutes.
