This documentary explores the complicated relationship between Anna Negri and her father, Toni Negri. After being accused of leading Italian terrorism, Toni spent several years in prison and fifteen years in exile before being acquitted and gaining recognition as a political philosopher. While his legal struggles were one part of his life, they left a lasting impact on Anna, who did not live with him after his arrest. The film follows their meeting in Venice, captured by a mutual friend, as they attempt to reconnect and reconcile the personal and collective traumas of their two generations. This encounter took place shortly before Toni's death six months later.
Anna Negri directed and wrote the film, marking it as the second project in her career following A fari spenti nella notte from 2012. The production was a collaboration between Videa, Mediaart Production Coop, and MIR Cinematografica in Italy. Anna Negri and Toni Negri appear as themselves in the 109-minute film.
