Snoopy, Come Home

Snoopy receives a letter from Lila, the girl who was his owner before Charlie Brown, and she is in the hospital. He sets off to see her, while Charlie Brown and the other children search for him. During the journey he runs into signs telling him dogs are not allowed in various places, and a small girl tries to keep him for herself. As the visit approaches, Snoopy begins to feel he should stay with Lila, which would mean leaving the life and friends he knows.

The film is an animated Peanuts feature directed by Bill Melendez, who had been bringing Charles M. Schulz's comic strip characters to television and cinema since the mid-1960s. It followed A Charlie Brown Christmas, It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and A Boy Named Charlie Brown, and came before several later Peanuts specials and features. Schulz wrote the screenplay, while Melendez and Lee Mendelson produced. The voices include Chad Webber as Charlie Brown, Robin Kohn as Lucy, Stephen Shea as Linus, David Carey as Schroeder and Hilary Momberger-Powers as Sally, with Melendez voicing Snoopy and Woodstock.

The songs were written by Richard and Robert Sherman. On IMDb the film holds a 7.3 rating from roughly 5,600 votes, and on TMDB a 7.1 from about 168 votes, so the two audiences broadly agree. A critics' score of 7.8 from 14 reviews places it a little above what viewers give it, though the small number of reviews makes that gap less meaningful.
