Melody

Melodie is a Swiss documentary that explores the act of singing as both a personal expression and a shared human experience. The film examines how collective vocalization requires mutual attunement and deep listening across various settings. This is illustrated through a wide range of subjects, including the voices of nuns in a historic convent, traditional male vocal groups, and the rhythmic chants of football fans. It also looks at singing within the context of social activism during women's marches, as well as its role in providing comfort and connection for diverse individuals, such as refugees, rappers, and people living with dementia.

The film was directed by Anka Schmid, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Lih Janowitz. Produced by RSI and Reck Filmproduktion GmbH, the documentary features a cast of people appearing as themselves, including Mina Inauen, Andreas Inauen, Karl Reinhart, Heather Edwards, Lea Burger, and a baby named Zoëlle.
