Meet The Metahumans

Meet The Metahumans is a short film about the experience of grief and the loss of loved ones during the pandemic. The story is set within a cyberpunk retro-video game from the 1980s called Game Over, featuring environments that mirror the real world. Within this meta-reality, two ego-driven artificial intelligences named Cosmo and Max, both designed to conquer humanity, engage in a battle. The conflict centers on two human game characters controlled by these entities and their attempt to escape the control of the Metahumans.

This United Kingdom production was directed and written by Sam Downie and Michael Smith. The cast features Downie and Smith as Max and Cosmo, appearing both as these characters and as themselves. The voice of Game Over is provided by Laura, with an additional appearance by Jeff Johns as himself. Produced by Dsoundz Media and Purple Fox Films, the movie blends action, animation, comedy, fantasy, and science fiction elements over a runtime of 38 minutes.
