Short description
Two Muscovites go on a trip to Karelia and disappear without a trace in an endless, dense forest. Each attempt to get out turns into a new threat. The forest seems to breathe, watch and does not want to let go... It becomes clear: the Forest lives by its own rules, which there is no time to understand - without food and water, the girls will not last long. In the meantime, one strange family moves into an abandoned village house. Strangers are not welcome here. After all, they used to live in the Forest.
What's left behind the scenes
- Filming took place in the Republic of Karelia after extensive preparation. A road was specifically laid out, and then the village sets were constructed.
- Filming took 15 days.
- Nikita Kologrivy performed the scene in which Venya drowns in a swamp without the use of stand-ins or stunt doubles. The swamp was simulated using a specially constructed tank filled with cold water and mud.
- Real animals participated in the filming: wolves, wolfdogs, Czechoslovakian wolfdogs, a papillon, mixed-breed dogs, and a snake. Often, several doubles were used to play the same animal on screen.
- The filmmakers used Canon EOS C400 cameras and optics from the Iron Glass line.
