This documentary examines the career of Josiane Balasko, focusing on her lifelong refusal to conform to traditional societal expectations. The film highlights her early feminist contributions, such as her blunt 1980s manifesto regarding women's bodies, and her later candid explorations of homosexuality. It explores her background as the daughter of Yugoslavian immigrants and her journey toward establishing herself in the arts, including her early aspirations to be a painter.
Directed by Éric Bitoun, this project is the first in a chronological list of his directed films, preceding his 2025 work on Michel Blanc. Produced in France by CNC, Sacem, RTS, and Comedie +, the film features Josiane Balasko appearing as herself. The cast also includes appearances by Marie-Anne Chazel, Patrice Leconte, Armelle, Swann Périssé, and Marianne Sergent.
