Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five

Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Furious Five is a short animated film in which Po, now established as the Dragon Warrior after defeating Tai Lung, is given a new assignment by Master Shifu: teaching kung fu to a group of restless bunny kittens. The young students prove difficult to reach until Po changes tack and tells them about the early lives of the Furious Five, showing that Tigress, Crane, Monkey, Viper and Mantis each started out small and had much to learn before becoming masters. Their stories make up most of the film.

Raman Hui directed the 25-minute film, the first title in his directing career, which continued with Scared Shrekless, Puss in Boots: The Three Diablos, Monster Hunt, Monster Hunt 2 and The Tiger's Apprentice. Todd Berger and Paul McEvoy wrote the screenplay, and Karen Foster produced it for DreamWorks Animation with Reel FX Creative Studios. Jack Black and Dustin Hoffman reprise their roles as Po and Shifu, joined by David Cross as Crane, Randall Duk Kim as Oogway, Elizabeth Ann Bennett as Ant and Bunny, and Jaycee Chan as Young Monkey.

Released on November 8, 2008, the film has an IMDb rating of 7 out of 10 from around 10,000 votes, while TMDB shows 6.8 out of 10 from roughly 488 votes. The larger IMDb sample points to a fairly favourable response, and the audience scores on both sites sit close together.
