Funny Girl

Funny Girl follows Fanny Brice, a young Jewish woman from New York's Lower East Side who dreams of a career in show business. Despite being told she lacks the looks for stardom, she works her way from small vaudeville stages to the Ziegfeld Follies, becoming a celebrated comedienne and singer. Along the way she meets Nick Arnstein, a charming gambler, and their romance develops alongside her rising fame, bringing both happiness and difficulty.

Isobel Lennart wrote the screenplay, and Ray Stark produced. Barbra Streisand stars as Fanny Brice, with Omar Sharif as Nick Arnstein, Kay Medford as Rose Brice, Anne Francis as Georgia James, Walter Pidgeon as Florenz Ziegfeld and Lee Allen as Eddie Ryan.
