This documentary examines the ideological and political evolution of United States Vice President JD Vance. It traces his life from a turbulent childhood to his arrival at the White House, framing his rise as an embodiment of MAGA-style revenge. To understand his ambitions and goals for America and Europe, the filmmakers interviewed a group of people close to him, including his mother, Beverly, and his mentor, David Frum.
The film was directed by David Thomson and Christophe Astruc. For Astruc, this was his second project of 2026, following The Bus: A French Football Mutiny. Produced by Nathalie Darrigrand, Benjamin Oulahcene, and Damien Pasinetti, the project received support from organizations including CNC, France Télévisions, PROCIREP, and Angoa-Agicoa.
The cast features archive footage of JD Vance and interviews with several key figures. These include his mother Beverly Vance, mentor David Frum, and Sofia Nelson, a former friend from Yale. Additional perspectives are provided by Politico journalist Ian Ward and political science professor Patrick Deneen. The French production has a total runtime of 74 minutes.
