Love Comes Softly

A young woman travels west with her husband to start a new life, but she is left widowed shortly after their arrival. Facing a harsh winter and pregnant with her late husband's child, she lacks the means to survive or return home. A widowed farmer proposes a marriage of convenience to solve their mutual problems. In exchange for shelter and a return trip in the spring, she agrees to care for his young daughter. Despite early tensions and an arrangement based on necessity, the trio gradually forms a genuine familial bond and develops romantic feelings.

The film was directed by Michael Landon Jr. as the first in a series of his directorial efforts, followed by Love's Enduring Promise in 2004.
