Creepshow 2

Creepshow 2 is an anthology horror film built around a boy named Billy, who waits at the roadside for the delivery of the latest issue of his favourite comic book. A ghoulish figure called the Creep appears and presents him with a set of scary stories. Among them are a wooden statue of a Native American chief that comes to life after criminals rob the shop where it stands, a group of young people on a lake who are attacked by a sinister mass in the water, and a woman who hits a hitchhiker with her car and finds him refusing to stay dead. The picture mixes live action with animated segments that tie the tales together.

The film was directed by Michael Gornick, who had previously worked as cinematographer on the original Creepshow. It is the first of two features he directed in the facts, followed by Golden Years in 1991. George A. Romero, director of the first film, wrote the screenplay, with David Ball producing. The cast includes Lois Chiles, George Kennedy, Dorothy Lamour, Daniel Beer, Jeremy Green and Page Hannah, part of a credited ensemble of thirty-one actors.

Made for about four million dollars, Creepshow 2 took roughly fourteen million worldwide, a solid return on its budget. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from nearly twenty-eight thousand votes, and on TMDB 6.2 out of 10 from a smaller number of users. A critics' rating of 4.3 out of 10 from twenty-four reviews places it below both audience scores, indicating a much less favourable professional response.
