Death Boom is a documentary about the modern death care industry and the strain it places on the people who work in it. Told from the perspective of those workers as they brace for the deaths of 77 million baby boomers, the film examines the consequences of embalming, cremation and conventional burial for the deceased, their families and the employees themselves, and looks at political, religious and corporate resistance to making greener burial methods legal and widely available.
The film is directed and written by Jessica Chandler, who also appears on screen as herself, and it follows her earlier documentary Fin. Eli Roth serves as the narrator and appears as himself. Producers are Jennifer Davisson and Leonardo DiCaprio, working with the production companies Appian Way, QC Entertainment and The Horror Section. It was released in the United States on June 9, 2026.
On IMDb the documentary holds a rating of 7.3 from about 1,800 votes, and on TMDB it scores 7.0 from roughly 240 votes. The two audience scores sit close together, suggesting a fairly consistent response from viewers across both platforms.
