Lust for Life is a documentary that follows two Syrian teenagers, Hazim and Saeed, as they seek a new home in Europe. After fleeing across the sea in 2015, Hazim physically carries Saeed, who is paralyzed, toward a new life in Hamburg. Over the course of ten years, the film tracks their efforts to stabilize their lives through education and employment. As Saeed gains independence, Hazim discovers his own need for support. The story also explores their relationship with a German teenager named Marius, whom they help care for, examining the evolving bonds and mutual reliance between the three.
The film was directed and written by Viktor Nordenskiöld. It features Saeed Al Salama, Hazim Atia, and Marius Ruppelt appearing as themselves, alongside Astrid Ruppelt, Marek Eisinger, and Gazi Albarni. The production was a collaboration between companies from Germany, Qatar, and Sweden, including Al Jazeera and Sisyfos Film. The movie has a runtime of 89 minutes.
