Biwako is a conceited, middle-aged actress who witnesses a violent murder. Because her fame makes her an easy target for the killers, the police assign two officers to protect her until she can testify in court. While under police surveillance, Biwako finds it difficult to manage her personal life and public reputation, leading to unexpected changes for her and those around her.
The film was written and directed by Jūzō Itami, following his previous works Tampopo and A Taxing Woman. Produced by Itami Productions and Takashi Kawasaki, the Japanese comedy drama thriller features Nobuko Miyamoto in the lead role as Isono Biwako. The supporting cast includes Masahiko Nishimura, Takehiro Murata, Kazuya Takahashi, Masahiko Tsugawa, and Tohru Emori, with a total of 38 credited actors.
Released in 1997 with a runtime of 131 minutes, the movie has received generally positive feedback from viewers. It holds a rating of 7.2 on IMDb based on 394 votes, while on TMDB it has a score of 6.4 from 14 votes.
