Le Pays taliban is a documentary that examines life in Afghanistan nearly five years after the Taliban regained power. The film explores the transition from a republic to a rigid fundamentalist state known as the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, which remains largely unrecognized globally. By following the experiences of local men and women, the narrative depicts the internal workings of a radical system defined by extreme discipline and isolation from the international press.

The project was filmed over four separate trips, many of which took place without official authorization. This French production was made by companies including RTBF, France Télévisions, Public Sénat, and Chrysalide Productions, with Béatrice Schönberg serving as producer. The film was directed by Solène Chalvon-Fioriti, following her previous work, Kabul Beauty, released in 2024.
