Concrete Turned to Sand is a Canadian documentary that follows oyster farmers on Cortes Island in British Columbia. The film examines how these local workers continue their trade while facing a rapidly shifting environment. Using the style of a photo essay, the narrative incorporates the poetry of William Blake to reflect on the intersection of nature and human labor.
The film was directed by Ryan Ermacora and Jessica Johnson, both of whom also served as producers. It has a runtime of 73 minutes and was released on April 28, 2026.
