Inside The Works

Inside The Works is a documentary that explores the history of the Computer Graphics Lab at the New York Institute of Technology. Established in 1974 by millionaire Alexander Schure and based in a century-old pink mansion on Long Island, the lab became a center for innovation in digital painting and animation. The film examines the lab's role in developing the alpha channel and its influence on the eventual founding of Pixar, as well as its two attempts to produce the first feature-length computer-animated movie.

The film was produced by Ok So and directed by Ziggy Cashmere, who also served as the producer. This is the second film directed by Cashmere, following 2024's Rotten: Behind the Foodfight. The production features interviews with several individuals appearing as themselves, including Edwin Catmull, Alvy Ray Smith, Carter Burwell, Tom Sito, Dick Lundin, and Amber Denker. Released on May 15, 2026, the documentary has a runtime of 83 minutes.
