Through the experiences of victims, a Crown prosecutor, and police officers, the film examines the legal protections available and the process of reporting crimes. It focuses on gender-based violence in digital spaces and the accountability of dating platforms. The film also highlights the emergence of digital solidarity and support networks, specifically referencing the Are We Dating The Same Guy? groups on Facebook.
Directed and written by Anne-Lovely Étienne, the film features appearances by Karyne Girard, Maya Alieh, Jérôme Laflamme, Julie Miville-Dechêne, and archive footage of Patrice Roy. The production was handled by ON FILME and the National Film Board of Canada. This 36-minute project analyzes how curated online profiles and algorithms can lead to dangerous real-world consequences.
