Denouement

Returning home to Ilocos for his father’s wake, Sevy Montano, a young theater student specializing in costume design, is pulled back into the quiet distance of the provincial life he once left behind. But his father’s death brings not closure, only unanswered questions lingering within the old family home. While sorting through his father’s belongings, Sevy uncovers fragments of a hidden past in theater—photographs, letters, and traces of performances that suggest a life carefully kept out of view. Among these remnants is a recurring role named Melissa, a stage identity that begins to blur the line between performance and selfhood. As Sevy pieces together this forgotten artistic life, he is confronted with a more complex understanding of his father, not only as a parent defined by silence, but as a man who once lived more truthfully onstage than in life. In preparing his father’s final appearance, Sevy must decide how to honor a life that was never fully allowed to be lived.
