Urban Justice

Steven Seagal plays Simon Ballister, a former government special operations agent with a violent history. When his son Max, a police officer, is shot dead on the street, the death is written off as random gang violence. Ballister refuses to accept that answer, moves into the run-down neighbourhood where his son was killed, and begins hunting the person responsible. His arrival quickly puts him at odds with the local gangs, who control the area and do not welcome an outsider asking questions.

The film is a 2007 American action crime thriller directed by Don E. FauntLeRoy, working from a screenplay by Gilmar Fortis II, with Seagal also serving as producer. It sits third in the run of films FauntLeRoy directed, following Today You Die in 2005 and Mercenary for Justice in 2006, and preceding Anaconda 3: Offspring in 2008. Alongside Seagal, the cast includes Eddie Griffin, Kirk B.R. Woller, Carmen Serano, Liezl Carstens and Cory Hart, with thirty credited cast members and fifty-seven credited crew. Made for a budget of twelve million dollars, the film received a rating of 5.1 out of ten on IMDb from around 6,700 votes, and a matching 5.1 out of ten on TMDB from roughly 130 votes, indicating a modest and largely action-oriented reception.
