Short description

Mighty Mary is a documentary about the first all-female sailing crew to challenge for the America's Cup. Formed through a New York Times advertisement, the group consisted of Olympic rowers and world-class sailors, including a deaf athlete and a Native Hawaiian. They were led by a coach who was the first African American to win an America's Cup race. Although critics initially viewed the team as a marketing stunt, they managed to eliminate the Stars & Stripes from the competition, though a secret agreement made before the race altered the final outcome.

The film was directed by Mary Mazzio, following her 2024 work Bad River. Mazzio also served as a producer and co-writer alongside Allison Abner. The production was a collaboration between Skydance Sports, Republic Pictures, 50 Eggs, and the Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation. The documentary features the voices of Elizabeth Banks and Hugh Jackman as narrators. With a runtime of 99 minutes, the United States production involved a credited crew of 44 people.
