Billy Duncan, a restless teenager in the southern California desert, comes across a laser weapon left behind by visitors from another world. The gun was abandoned after its previous owner was killed, and its new owner quickly discovers that firing it changes him, gradually taking control of both his body and his behaviour. As Billy turns the weapon on the people around him, the aliens who lost it set out to reclaim what is theirs.
Michael Rae directed the film, working from a screenplay by Frank Ray Perilli and Franne Schacht; Charles Band and J. Larry Carroll produced. Kim Milford plays Billy, with Cheryl Smith, Gianni Russo, Ron Masak, Eddie Deezen and Keenan Wynn among the credited cast of twenty-two. It runs 83 minutes and was released in March 1978.
Audience scores are low, with a 2.9 rating on IMDb across roughly 7,200 votes and 3.4 on TMDB from a much smaller number of votes, indicating a limited and largely unenthusiastic response.
