My Dog Skip
Short description
Set in Yazoo City, Mississippi, in 1942, this story follows Willie, a shy young boy who struggles to fit in with his peers. After receiving a terrier puppy named Skip for his birthday, Willie finds a loyal companion who helps him gain self-confidence. The dog's intelligence and personality make him a favorite in the community, allowing Willie to build friendships and navigate the challenges of growing up. As the bond between the boy and his dog strengthens, Willie evolves from a reserved child into a young man.

- Director Jay Russell wanted to cast a Smooth Fox Terrier as Skip, but he couldn't find a single trained animal. As a result, they had to use a Jack Russell Terrier.
